West Coast Road Trip

Road trips are definitely West Coasters’ official hobby. You can ask anyone in LA and they would tell you that your car is basically your second home! And there are honestly few drives as beautiful as when you’re cruising up PCH- summer sunsets will take your breath away.

Knowing that we would mostly be driving from stop to stop, I can get away with a little height on my West Coast road trip. Versatility is key when packing because to make sure to be able to create multiple looks with core 3 pairs of shoes. Grabbing a mix of neutral colours tones and different silhouettes, I always pack espadrilles, lace up flat sandals, and a pair of mule slides.

  • Espadrilles

Want to exude West Coast vibes? These espadrille wedges sandals are a must-have. I could wear them with anything from my favourite pair of 80’s style mom jeans or a denim mini skirt. For this trip, I balanced an edgy graphic tee with these super flowy culottes for a boardwalk stroll. I added a crossbody bag with a fun patterned strap that will help hold everything I need for day exploration without weighing me down.
  • Suede mules

These sand coloured suede mules are great for dressing up or down. I wore them in the AM with high-waisted white pants and button-up plaid shirt for that summer fresh feeling. For the PM, I love wearing them with a gold slip dress and an oversized cardigan since it can get a little chilly near the ocean when the sun goes down. For dinner at a beautiful coastal restaurant, I finished my outfit off with a structured bag with luxe detailing to tie back this classically chic look.
  • Strappy block heels

Last but not least, this pair of black strappy block heel sandals can be worn with everything. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING- even neon. I fell in love with this polka dot wrap dress for its beautiful shape and flirty details.

East Coast Road Trip

East Coast road trips have completely different vibe (and will need a different packing list), but they are just as fun! Despite living in LA, I’ll always be a city girl at heart. The busy streets, late night eats and cool bars are what it’s all about for me whenever I’m on the East Coast.

When creating my packing road trip essentials list, the first thing I always keep in mind is comfort- but being comfortable doesn’t mean having to sacrifice being chic! Walking is a major part of being an urban explorer on the East Coast, and with these 3 pairs, I never had to slow down (unless it was for a photo)!

  • Suede espadrilles sandals

These fun mustard espadrille slides are the perfect platform and can easily be paired with any of the tonal colors in my wardrobe. Easy-going and uncomplicated, these slides are the best way to show off that amazing pedicure you got in the Big Apple. I liked wearing them with an off the shoulder top, khaki linen skirt and carry-anywhere woven tote.
  • Mid-heel block sandals

I packed a pair of mid-heel block sandals for the nights out. The city just after the sun sets is my favourite time of day. It comes alive with people enjoying the warm nights over dinner and drinks on cool patios. Pair it with any jeans (boyfriend, straight leg or mom are in heavy rotation right now) and a white top for a clean aesthetic. I switched to a woven top handle purse for a night out in town.
  • Lace-up strappy flats

Finally, this pair of black lace-up strappy flats that are must have to rock summer in ease and style. I like that I don’t have to think twice when throwing these on, typically with a tee and skirt combo. Definitely going to clock up some serious mileage on foot as we go from rooftop to rooftop!
